Solar Agro Conference 2026: Solar Energy and Battery Storage Become New Growth Drivers for Agribusiness

On 19 June, Solar Agro Conference 2026 took place at the Parkovy Convention and Exhibition Center in Kyiv, bringing together industry leaders to discuss the future of agricultural energy, energy security, and energy efficiency in the agribusiness sector.

The event was organized by the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine and ProAgro Group as part of Agro Ukraine Week.

The conference brought together representatives of agribusiness, energy companies, the banking sector, government institutions, and the expert community to discuss practical solutions for strengthening the energy independence of agricultural enterprises, deploying solar generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS), and implementing effective financing and legal mechanisms for such projects.

Session I: Solar PV Construction – Legal and Financial Instruments, Business Models, and Grant Programs

The first session was moderated by Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of SEAU.

Participants explored available financing instruments, legal frameworks for project implementation, and modern business models for on-site renewable generation.

Tetiana Dukhova, CEO of Ecotech Invest, presented an investment model that enables agricultural companies to purchase electricity at a discount without upfront capital investment. Under this model, the investor finances and installs the equipment while assuming all technical risks, allowing businesses to benefit from savings from the very first month of operation.

Ivan Balytskyi, Chairman of the SEAU Legal Committee, outlined the key legal mechanisms available for renewable energy projects in 2026, including self-consumption, Net Billing, participation in the wholesale electricity market, and the Green Auction mechanism.

Olesia Mishchenko, Chairwoman of the Board of the Ukraine Decarbonization Fund, presented state support mechanisms for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, as well as financing opportunities available through the Fund.

Iryna Kabantseva from OTP Bank introduced the bank’s financing and leasing solutions designed for self-generation and battery energy storage projects.

Oleksandr Havva, representing the Market Operator, focused on the participation of battery energy storage systems across different segments of Ukraine’s electricity market and explained how energy arbitrage can significantly improve project economics.

According to Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of SEAU:

“Today, many agricultural companies have already installed solar power plants and battery energy storage systems not only to strengthen their energy security but also to develop self-generation as a separate business line and an additional source of revenue.”

Session II: Modern Technical Solutions – Solar PV Construction, Equipment, and Battery Energy Storage Systems

The second session was moderated by Oleksandr Kliepalov, Member of the SEAU Board and CEO of Atmosfera.

Experts presented practical case studies and the latest technological solutions for agricultural enterprises.

Yevhen Herasko, Technical Director of SUNSAY NRG, discussed the specific energy consumption profile of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that the combination of solar generation and battery storage has already become an economic asset rather than merely a backup power source.

Andrii Hetman, CEO and Founder of UNASOLAR, explained how Solar + BESS solutions help reduce electricity costs, enable energy price arbitrage, and improve overall business efficiency.

Anastasiia Makarevych, Sales Director at iSolar, presented the capabilities of modern Energy Management Systems (EMS) for optimizing electricity consumption, generation, and storage.

Oleksandr Safronkin, Founder and Director of the GREEN SYSTEM Group, shared practical experience in implementing integrated projects combining solar generation, battery energy storage systems, and biogas facilities.

Oleh Hahiiev, Chief Energy Engineer of Kernel’s Storage Department, presented the company’s experience in deploying solar generation at grain elevators and outlined its plans to further expand these projects.

Networking and Cooperation

In addition to the conference sessions, Solar Agro Conference 2026 provided an excellent platform for professional networking and the establishment of new partnerships. During the networking sessions, participants continued discussions with speakers, exchanged practical experience, and explored current market challenges and future opportunities for agricultural energy development in Ukraine.

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine sincerely thanks all participants, speakers, partners, and friends of SEAU for their active participation, open professional dialogue, and valuable exchange of practical experience.
