SEAU Investment Committee Chairman Dmytro Lukomskyi Moderated a Panel Discussion on Energy Autonomy at the Ukrainian Construction Congress

On 23 June 2026, a panel discussion entitled “Energy Autonomy as the New Standard of Resilience: Solar PV, Heat Pumps, and BESS” took place at the Parkovy Convention and Exhibition Center in Kyiv as part of the Ukrainian Construction Congress, organized by DMNTR.

The discussion was moderated by Dmytro Lukomskyi, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU) and Founder of the Avenston Group.

Opening the session, Dmytro Lukomskyi emphasized that, following the recent heating seasons, energy autonomy has evolved from being an innovative solution into a fundamental requirement for modern construction.

“Energy autonomy is no longer a premium feature. It is something clients are actively asking for. Today, it is essential to determine which solutions have already become the new standard, which technologies are the most effective, and what should be incorporated into new projects from the very beginning,” said Dmytro Lukomskyi.

The discussion focused on the key challenges the market has faced following the previous winter, current demand for energy autonomy solutions, promising technologies for the construction sector, barriers limiting their widespread deployment, and practical recommendations for developers and commercial real estate owners.

The expert panel featured:

  • Oleksandr Chepurnov, Energy Resilience Expert at DTEK Grids, who shared his perspective on the role of distribution networks in supporting decentralized generation and integrating advanced energy solutions.
  • Iryna Klymas, Energy Policy Expert at the NGO Ecodia – Center for Environmental Initiatives, who discussed the changing expectations of local communities regarding energy resilience, the environmental benefits of distributed generation, and the development of sustainable communities.
  • Viktoriia Petrovych, Ukraine Adviser for the European Smarter4EU Programme, who presented the approaches of international financial institutions to financing green construction projects and outlined the criteria that increasingly determine the investment attractiveness of modern real estate developments.
  • Sviatoslav Yakov, Senior Corporate Client Expert at Logic Power, who shared practical experience in implementing battery energy storage systems, backup power solutions, and integrated technologies that enhance business energy independence.

Particular attention was given to the integration of solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), heat pumps, and intelligent energy management systems as essential components of modern construction projects. The participants also discussed the economic benefits of energy autonomy, financing opportunities, and practical aspects of implementing comprehensive energy solutions.

Summarizing the discussion, Dmytro Lukomskyi concluded:

“The key takeaway from today’s discussion is that energy autonomy is steadily moving from being an exceptional feature to becoming a fundamental requirement for modern buildings. The sooner we integrate these solutions into new projects, the more resilient our buildings, businesses, communities, and ultimately our country will become.”

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine sincerely thanks the organizers of the Ukrainian Construction Congress for the invitation to participate in this professional discussion and for providing an opportunity to explore the modern energy solutions that are shaping the future of resilient construction in Ukraine.
