On 19 November 2025, the Chairman of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU), Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, spoke at the Finland-Ukraine Matchmaking Event — an international platform aimed at fostering partnerships between Ukrainian and Finnish businesses in the fields of energy, innovation, and construction.
The event was organized with the support of the Finnpartnership program and has become an important space for dialogue between companies from both countries interested in Ukraine’s reconstruction and the development of modern infrastructure. Participants were welcomed by representatives of governmental and business institutions of Finland and Ukraine, including Henri Riihimäki, Senior Specialist of the Embassy of Finland in Kyiv, and Yevhen Plaskin, First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine in Finland.
The Chairman of SEAU, Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, delivered an in-depth presentation on the current state and prospects of solar generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS) development in Ukraine. In his speech, he highlighted key market trends, arguments in favor of investing in “PV + BESS”, and outlined SEAU’s role in shaping a professional ecosystem for the sector.
“Solar energy in Ukraine has not stopped developing even during the full-scale war”, Sokolovskyi emphasized.
According to him, the total installed solar capacity has reached 7,500 MW, and 2024–2025 became record years in terms of growth rates:
- 2024: 800 MW of new PV capacity installed and the first megawatt-scale BESS projects commissioned;
- 2025: more than 1,000 MW of new solar generation added and 500 MWh of BESS deployed.
“Solar generation combined with storage systems is actively being implemented by businesses, communities, and households. The demand for energy independence today is stronger than ever”, the SEAU Chairman noted.
Sokolovskyi stressed that energy storage systems have become critically important:
“Today, BESS is no longer an option — it is a necessity. It provides the ability to balance generation, operate through energy arbitrage, and ensure the stability of businesses and the energy system.”
During the event, Ukrainian and Finnish companies presented their projects and solutions in the fields of modular construction, energy efficiency, renewable energy, manufacturing platforms, and infrastructure development.
The discussion featured representatives of Finnish and Ukrainian businesses and institutions, including:
- Birgit Nevala – Director of the Finnpartnership Program
- Anatoliy Berkuta – Vice President of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (CBU)
- Yurii Tromsa – Director, Peikko Ukraine
- Andrii Mokriakiv – Senior Consultant, Pro-Consulting
as well as representatives of HONKA, Andritz Oy, Itula Oy, Konecranes Ukraine, Ukrainian manufacturing and development companies, local authorities, and business associations.
Participants devoted considerable attention to the challenges facing Ukraine’s construction sector and the opportunities for its development in partnership with international companies.
In particular, they discussed:
- industrial and investment opportunities;
- the creation of manufacturing clusters;
- the development of energy-efficient technologies;
- the resilience of energy infrastructure during wartime;
- prospects for joint projects in the modernization and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine highly values the opportunity to represent the renewable energy sector on international platforms and strengthen cooperation with foreign partners. Events like this demonstrate that Ukraine remains an attractive country for investment in clean energy and technologies that will support sustainable recovery and energy independence.
