Solar Energy Association of Ukraine, Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, European-Ukrainian Energy Agency and the Ukrainian Renewable Energy Association are meeting together for the first time this year to remind the Government and lawmakers that their actions are stopping the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
The leaders of the associations reminded of the obligation of the Government to fulfil its obligations to producers to repay 40% of the debt for 2020 by the end of this year, as well as to ensure 100% stability of payments in 2021. The associations also condemned the reluctance of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to invite specialized associations when the court considers the submission of 47 people’s deputies on the “unconstitutionality” of the green tariff.
Executive Director of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine Artem Semenyshyn said: “We have come to the conclusion that, despite promising declarations of support, in 2020 the Government and MPs have turned their backs on the development of renewable energy in Ukraine, although global trends are the opposite – and lead to accelerated construction of RES generation. RES blocks the investment attractiveness of the industry, not only solar energy, but also all other types of RES. At the same time, the industry continues to be under pressure from tax and regulatory authorities. The state, first of all, must abide by the obligations under the law and stop the pressure on the industry. “
