The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine Joined the Huawei Digital Power Summit 2025

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine took part in the Huawei Digital Power Partners Summit 2025, organized by SEAU’s partner – Huawei Ukraine.

The event brought together more than 140 representatives of the energy sector from across the country.

During the event, SEAU Chairman of the Board Vladyslav Sokolovskyi delivered a presentation on the current state of the solar energy sector and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Ukraine, as well as outlined the key legal instruments for industry development in 2025.

In his speech, Vladyslav Sokolovskyi noted:

“Despite the war and large-scale destruction, the Ukrainian solar generation market continues to grow. Today, the total installed capacity of solar generation is 7,500 MW. Last year added +800 MW of new solar power plants to the energy system. The first industrial energy storage facilities were also installed, demonstrating strong economic advantages. In 2025, we added +700 MW of industrial solar generation and more than 500 MWh of new ESS capacity. This proves that solar energy has become a key element of the country’s energy security”.

According to Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, the war has caused significant losses to the renewable energy sector:

  • more than 50% of generating capacity has been lost;
  • more than 60 industrial solar power plants have been destroyed or occupied;
  • part of the critical infrastructure, including substations, has been damaged or destroyed.

Among the key recovery priorities, he highlighted:

  • rapid reconstruction and protection of energy facilities;
  • support for distributed generation – solar, wind, ESS, and gas piston plants;
  • continuation of tax incentives and simplification of grid connection procedures.

Vladyslav Sokolovskyi concluded:

“Tax incentives are a driver of development. It is necessary to extend the exemption from VAT and customs duties on solar panels, wind turbines, and ESS until 2027-2028, and allow accelerated depreciation for renewable energy facilities. Stability of regulations is what investors expect most. And investor interest is growing, as solar + ESS is already mainstream”.

As part of the Summit, Huawei also recognized partners who made a significant contribution to the development of energy solutions in Ukraine. Among the awardees were companies that are SEAU partners and members: Atmosfera, Photomate, and Modern Energy.

The event was also attended by representatives of Unasolar, a member of the Association, as well as colleagues from the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association.

SEAU was additionally represented at the event by the Chairman of the Electricity Markets Committee Volodymyr Yevdokimov, the Chairman of the Investment Committee Dmytro Lukomskyi, and the Chairman of the Installers Committee Oleksandr Alokhin.

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine expresses its gratitude to Huawei Ukraine for the partnership and professional dialogue that promotes the development of a modern energy ecosystem in Ukraine.
