On Friday, January 30, the Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU), Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, delivered a presentation at the Grain Storage Forum conference dedicated to modern solutions for grain and agricultural infrastructure.
During the presentation, three basic legal scenarios for the installation of solar power plants that are already effectively operating in Ukraine were outlined: solar power plants for self-consumption without licensing; projects with the status of an active consumer allowing the sale of surplus electricity; and full-scale generating facilities with access to the electricity market.
Special attention was paid to legal project implementation models depending on financing sources – ranging from traditional EPC contracts to corporate PPAs and leasing of solar power plants without significant upfront investments for agricultural enterprises.
Within the discussion, participants also reviewed key contractual aspects that are critically important for businesses, including land and real estate issues, construction timelines, pricing, service and maintenance, liability of the parties, and buyout conditions.
Particular emphasis was placed on the role of solar power plants combined with energy storage systems, which enable agricultural enterprises to enhance energy security and reduce electricity costs.
“For agribusiness, solar generation is no longer an experiment but a practical tool with clear legal and financial models. Solar power plants and energy storage systems make it possible to reduce costs, increase autonomy, and improve the predictability of energy consumption even under grid constraints”, noted Vladyslav Sokolovskyi.
The forum also featured working meetings between the Chairman of the SEAU Board and conference participants, focusing on practical aspects of implementing energy projects for the agricultural sector and potential collaborations with international partner associations.
The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine was also pleased to welcome among the event participants SEAU’s partner, Atmosfera.
We thank the organizers of the Grain Storage Forum for a substantive and professional discussion!
