SEAU member company Unisolar has released a new episode of its podcast, “Legal Aspects of Operating Microgrids in Ukraine”.
In this episode, experts discussed key legal issues faced by microgrid owners and businesses planning to implement their own generation.
The speakers included Olha Savchenko, lawyer at Altelaw, and Oleksii Sinitsyn, Head of Sales at Unisolar. They focused on the following topics:
- Legal possibilities for exporting electricity to the general grid and third-party consumers (active consumer model, direct lines, CfD contracts);
- Conditions for small players to access ancillary services markets of NEC Ukrenergo;
- Legal risks and limitations when designing industrial and commercial microgrids;
- Specifics of connecting to public networks;
- Recommendations to avoid common mistakes during planning, construction, and commissioning.
According to Olha Savchenko, successful microgrid implementation requires a comprehensive approach, from high-quality technical design to proper legal support.
Oleksii Sinitsyn emphasized that a microgrid can become a strategic business asset, enhancing energy independence, reducing exposure to market fluctuations, and creating new opportunities to monetize surplus energy.
The podcast serves as an important platform for professional dialogue between businesses, technical specialists, and the legal community, confirming that legal support is an integral part of successful energy project implementation.
SEAU welcomes the initiative of our members to hold such educational events, as they contribute to the development of professional dialogue and the enhancement of competencies in the solar and distributed energy sector in Ukraine.
