SEAU Held an Open Meeting of the Legal Committee on Business Actions After a Tax Audit

On January 22, 2026, the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU) held an open online meeting of its Legal Committee entitled “The Tax Audit Is Over. The Next Stage of Protection”, continuing its series of practical events dedicated to tax audits in the energy sector.

The event took place in a Zoom conference format and brought together representatives of the energy business, CFOs, chief accountants, lawyers, tax advisors, as well as companies that have already undergone or are expecting a tax audit.

The keynote speaker was Nataliia Kurilenko, Head of Tax Practice, auditor and attorney at Sokolovskyi & Partners Law Firm. The meeting was moderated by Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of SEAU.

During the session, participants thoroughly discussed practical aspects of a taxpayer’s actions after the completion of a tax audit, in particular:

  • the algorithm for analyzing the tax audit report and identifying violations by tax authorities;
  • the procedure for preparing and submitting objections to the audit report;
  • requirements for filing an appeal against a tax notice-decision (TND), including the formation of an evidence base and supporting annexes;
  • tax risks related to procedural violations, missed deadlines, the emergence of tax debt, asset seizure, and enforced recovery.

Special attention was paid to reviewing typical mistakes made by businesses after the completion of a tax audit and to practical recommendations for protecting company interests, particularly in the renewable energy sector and in the segment of utility-scale solar power plants.

Summing up the event, the Association emphasized that the first steps after a tax audit are crucial, as delayed or incorrect actions may lead to significant financial losses and asset blocking. Participants received a clear action plan and had the opportunity to ask questions to an expert with hands-on experience in handling tax disputes in the renewable energy sector.

“After a tax audit is completed, businesses often underestimate the importance of the initial procedural steps. It is at this stage that the success or failure of further defense is determined: mistakes in analyzing the audit report, missed deadlines, or a formal approach to objections may result in additional tax assessments, tax debt, and asset blocking”, said Nataliia Kurilenko, Head of Tax Practice at Sokolovskyi & Partners.

SEAU plans to continue organizing practical events for businesses aimed at increasing legal awareness and protecting the interests of participants in Ukraine’s solar energy market.

More details about the Legal Committee meeting, as well as access to the expert’s presentation, will be available to members of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine in the upcoming issue of the Solar Digest.

P.S. We remind you that SEAU members may request access to recordings of events held on the Association’s platform.
