The Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine updated the Projected balance of electricity of the IPS of Ukraine for 2020.
The new changes imply a proportional reduction in electricity production by the following types of generation: nuclear, hydro and thermal. The balance also means a projected increase in generation from renewable energy sources.
Introducing an updated Projected balance of electricity should be the first step towards overcoming the energy crisis.
In particular, the following changes are intended:
– make RES generation a priority and reduce disconnection of SPP and WPP facilities from the network;
– reduce generation from thermal power stations;
– due to lack of precipitation in winter and spring and low water level in hydroelectric power plants and insufficient manoeuvring capacity to reduce Projected balance of electricity for HPP;
– due to falling demand and recent experiments of NPC Ukrenergo with regular change of load on NPPs in Ukraine, which, poses a risk for the operation of NPPs and security in Ukraine, together with the representatives of NNEGC Energoatom and NPC Ukrenergo, the Ministry proposed optimal generating capacity for NPPs for the safe operation of nuclear units. Also, such changes will enable NNEGC Energoatom to carry out urgent repairs of NPPs that have been working for the last five years to maximize the production of electricity from nuclear fuel.
