Partnerships, investments, and new steps for Ukraine’s energy development: key takeaways from the Solar & BESS Invest Forum UA and other events in Warsaw

From 12 to 14 November, the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine spent three intensive and productive days in Warsaw, bringing together major international renewable energy events, dozens of meetings, and important discussions about Ukraine’s energy future.

On 12 November, Ivan Balytskyi, Head of SEAU’s Legal Committee, took part in a business lunch and networking event with Dutch companies, organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Warsaw.

The meeting focused on fostering cooperation in sustainable development, sharing expertise, and finding joint solutions for rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

That same day, SEAU continued its active international engagement at the 100Green World: Dreams, Future and Reality conference organized by Global 100% RE Ukraine, where SEAU Chairman Vladyslav Sokolovskyi represented the solar community.

In his speech, Mr. Sokolovskyi emphasized that despite the ongoing war, Ukraine has not stopped the development of solar power plants (PV) and energy storage systems (BESS): in 2024, 800 MW of PV capacity was installed; in the first half of 2025 – another 700 MW of solar capacity and 500 MWh of storage systems; and by the end of the year, at least +800 MW of new capacity is expected. The “PV + BESS” model is already shaping a modern, decentralized and resilient energy system for the country.

On 13 November, the fifth international exhibition and conference ReBuild Ukraine: Construction & Energy began – one of Europe’s largest platforms dedicated to infrastructure reconstruction. The event gathered hundreds of Ukrainian and international companies, experts, investors, and representatives of governmental and international institutions.

Representatives of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine actively participated, holding numerous meetings and negotiations with international partners, developers, and potential investors. These discussions served as an important step toward deepening cooperation, exploring real projects, and identifying new areas of partnership in the solar and energy storage sectors.

On 14 November, SEAU together with PremierEXPO opened the Solar & BESS Invest Forum UA as part of ReBuild Ukraine. The Forum brought together leading investors, developers, equipment manufacturers, and experts shaping Ukraine’s new energy reality.

The event became a key platform for professional dialogue on the future of solar energy and BESS.

The Forum opened with warm and inspiring remarks from:

  • Olena Kononenko, Project Manager of ReBuild Ukraine;
  • Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of SEAU;
  • Fuat Ege Aslan, Deputy General Director of Europower Enerji.

Europower Enerji served as the event’s general partner, while strategic support was provided by Huawei Ukraine, KNESS, SPP Development Ukraine, GoodWe, and D.TRADING. Additional partners included Atmosfera and Sokolovskyi & Partners.

Throughout the day, participants discussed the most pressing issues of the sector across three thematic panels.

  • Investments in Solar and BESS: From Public Policy to Leading European Practices

Moderated by SEAU Chairman Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, the panel brought together experts who shared insights into the investment climate and market development strategies. Speakers represented state institutions and international organizations: Mykola Kolisnyk (Deputy Minister of Energy), David Wedepohl (BSW, German Solar Industry Association), Adam Balogh (Energy Community), Vitalii Butenko (JSC “Energy Company of Ukraine”), Olga Pershyna (Ukrenergo), and Fuat Ege Aslan (Europower Enerji).

  • BESS: When Energy Storage Becomes the Key to Resilience

Moderated by Oleksandr Havva, CEO of Market Operator JSC. The discussion focused on practical BESS implementation cases, their economics, and their role in system balancing. Experts from GIZ, KNESS, D.TRADING, Huawei Ukraine, Litgrid, GoodWe, and OKKO shared their experience.

  • Financial and Technological Tools for Building New Solar Power Plants

Moderated by Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, President of MHP Eco Energy and President of Global 100% RE Ukraine. The panel explored effective mechanisms for investing in PV and BESS projects – from state incentives to the approaches of international financial institutions.

Speakers included representatives of SAEE, UNDP, SPP Development Ukraine, the United Heritage Fund, and Ivan Balytskyi, Head of the SEAU Legal Committee.

The Forum was held in the spirit of professionalism, partnership, and a shared mission – the development of a resilient, modern, and competitive energy system for Ukraine.

Over the course of three days, SEAU:

  • held dozens of meetings with partners and investors;
  • presented the potential of Ukraine’s solar and BESS markets;
  • launched new international partnerships;
  • strengthened Ukraine’s role in the European energy dialogue;
  • signed a Memorandum of Partnership with the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine;
  • supported the formation of new business projects in the solar and energy storage sectors.

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine extends sincere gratitude to all participants, partners, speakers, and organizers of the events in Warsaw – ReBuild Ukraine, Global 100% RE Ukraine, Europower Enerji, Huawei Ukraine, KNESS, SPP Development Ukraine, GoodWe, D.TRADING, Atmosfera, Sokolovskyi & Partners, as well as all companies and experts who contributed to constructive discussions.

Together we are shaping Ukraine’s energy future – resilient, innovative, and integrated into the European landscape.

Stay tuned for upcoming announcements – many more SEAU events are ahead!
