On October 29, in the framework of EU Sustainable Energy Week, the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine in partnership with the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association – UWEA and Global 100% RE Ukraine held an online forum “Further integration of RES projects into the Ukrainian energy system: challenges and prospects.”

During the first panel “State policy in the field of RES. Quo vadis?”, Moderated by Artem Semenyshyn, a fruitful discussion was held on promoting the development of the renewable energy sector in Ukraine. With the participation of Acting Oleksandr Martyniuk, Director General of the Electricity Complex and Electricity Market Development Directorate of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine; Oleksiy Savin’s Eco-Department of Ukrgasbank discussed
– prospects for the introduction of new support mechanisms for the sustainable development of RES in Ukraine,
– Ukraine’s readiness for the European Green Course,
– what are the challenges for the renewed energy system of Ukraine and ways to overcome them, in the context of integration into ENTSO-E,
– the place of solar energy in the substitution of fossil fuels: distributed generation and prosumerism,
– green financing: where to get funds for RES projects.

In particular, Ms. Ruta Baltause assured that Ukraine has a great export potential for the development of RES, especially in the wind energy sector. In his speech, Oleksiy Savin said that the most common tool for this is “green” bonds, the expected annual output by 2023 is 1 trillion.

Thanks to the moderation of Andriy Konechenkov, during the second panel “Window of Opportunities for the Ukrainian Green Course: Next Steps”, the forum participants had the opportunity to hear expert opinions on issues related to the production and synergy of “green” hydrogen and biomethane and use. green ”energy for their production. Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, Chairman of the Board of Global 100Re Ukraine and President of MHP Eco-Energy, said that MHP had prepared a strategy that would include the goal of becoming a 100% decarbonized and energy independent company by 2030. DTEK’s Innovation Manager and Energy Storage Project Project Manager Vadym Utkin and KNESS Energy Director Serhiy Kravchuk also joined the discussion. Representatives of leading energy companies presented technical cases of energy storage systems and smart grid and net energy billing projects.
