Domestic Production of Solar PV Modules with On-Site Generation: Embud LLC Project Wins the 100 gREen AWARD-2025

A project establishing domestic production of solar photovoltaic modules combined with its own hybrid renewable generation has won the 100 gREen AWARD-2025 “Best Green Transformation Projects” in the category “Best Solar Project: Sun Born from the Sun.” The project was implemented by the Ukrainian company Embud LLC.

Embud launched the production of photovoltaic panels during the full-scale war in Ukraine. In 2025, the company began serial production of BLS solar PV modules.

Currently, it is the only enterprise in Ukraine manufacturing photovoltaic panels. During the first year of operation, the company delivered products with a total capacity of 12 MW.

The company’s energy resilience is strengthened by a 100 kW Solis hybrid solar power plant, installed to partially cover the facility’s own electricity consumption.

The system operates together with an OASIS energy storage system with a capacity of 120 kWh, enabling the company to:

  • optimize electricity consumption
  • improve the stability of power supply for production processes
  • reduce dependence on the external power grid

This combination of energy equipment manufacturing and on-site renewable generation demonstrates an integrated approach to business green transformation.

“This project shows that green transformation is not limited to building new power plants. It is about creating a full ecosystem — from equipment manufacturing to the use of renewable energy in industrial processes,” said Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU).

The project combines several key elements of green transformation:

  • localization of renewable energy equipment manufacturing in Ukraine
  • use of solar generation to power industrial processes
  • integration of energy storage systems, increasing electricity efficiency and flexibility

This approach allows the enterprise to reduce its carbon footprint, increase energy autonomy, and simultaneously support the development of Ukraine’s domestic solar energy market.

The project was implemented with the support of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund, the Government of Germany, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) within the international ReACT4UA program – “Application and Implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement in the Field of Trade.”

Project financing was provided by Oschadbank.

The initiative became the winner of the 100 gREen AWARD-2025 “Best Green Transformation Projects” in the “Best Solar Project” category.

The development of similar projects is important for the recovery and modernization of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“Scaling such solutions can become one of the drivers of Ukraine’s green reconstruction. The combination of energy equipment manufacturing, on-site generation, and energy storage systems forms a new model of resilient energy for industry,” added Vladyslav Sokolovskyi.

Further deployment of similar solutions will contribute to the development of the domestic solar energy market, increased energy independence for businesses, and strengthening of Ukraine’s technological capacity.
