SEAU, together with SOLARKIT Europe, held an open meeting of the BESS Committee dedicated to modern BESS solutions and practical experience in implementing projects across Europe

On 18 June 2026, the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU), together with its partner SOLARKIT Europe, held an open meeting of the SEAU Energy Storage Systems (ESS) Committee entitled “Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): Concepts, Experience, and Implemented Projects by SOLARKIT Europe”.

The event brought together representatives of Ukraine’s renewable energy market, investors, developers, EPC companies, engineering firms, industrial enterprises, and everyone involved in implementing modern battery energy storage systems in Ukraine.

The meeting was moderated by Serhii Ruchko, Chairman of the SEAU Energy Storage Systems Committee.

The speakers were Norbert Babos, Technical Director of SOLARKIT Europe, and Yehor Romanov, Business Development Director of SOLARKIT Europe in Ukraine.

During the presentation, the experts provided a comprehensive overview of SOLARKIT Europe, which has become one of Europe’s leading distributors and system integrators of solar energy and battery storage solutions in recent years.

Today, the company operates in numerous European markets, has completed more than 4,000 solar projects with a combined capacity exceeding 200 MW, and serves as an official distributor of Huawei, Deye, SolaX, and Tongwei, as well as a certified CATL system integrator.

Particular attention was given to CATL’s industrial battery energy storage solutions. Norbert Babos presented the concept behind modern BESS design, highlighted the advantages of integrated solutions from the world’s leading battery technology manufacturer, and explained why CATL currently holds a leading position in the global energy storage market. Participants also explored the technical features of the CATL EnerOne+ and CATL EnerC platforms, which are used for commercial and utility-scale energy storage projects.

The speakers also shared practical experience from projects implemented across Europe. Successfully completed BESS projects in Hungary, including installations in Monor, Lajosmizse, and Kalocsa, were presented, demonstrating how battery storage systems have been integrated with solar power plants to ensure efficient operation of energy facilities of various capacities. According to the company, SOLARKIT Europe has already completed 15 CATL-based projects with a total installed storage capacity of 60 MWh, while its current project pipeline exceeds 500 MWh.

Commenting on the market outlook, Serhii Ruchko, Chairman of the SEAU ESS Committee, stated:

“The arrival of a player such as CATL on the Ukrainian market is very exciting news for the entire industry. CATL’s energy storage solutions have the potential to challenge today’s market leaders and strengthen competition in the premium segment. Alongside exceptional product quality, CATL also offers highly competitive pricing. I firmly believe that increased competition and the entry of new market players will ultimately benefit customers.”

A separate part of the presentation focused on Power Conversion Systems (PCS)—one of the key components of any battery energy storage system. The experts reviewed the characteristics of equipment from different manufacturers, discussed the criteria for selecting PCS solutions depending on project requirements, and shared practical experience in designing utility-scale BESS installations.

Another highlight of the meeting was the presentation of compact Dyness battery storage systems designed for commercial and industrial applications. SOLARKIT Europe representatives showcased successful implementation of these solutions in Ukraine, including a woodworking enterprise in the Poltava region, where, following the successful operation of the first two battery cabinets, the customer decided to further expand the project.

During the event, participants also explored current market trends in battery energy storage, the prospects for Deye solutions, modern approaches to integrating BESS with solar generation, and practical aspects of implementing Solar + Storage projects in both Ukraine and the European Union.

Following the presentations, an active Q&A session provided participants with an opportunity to discuss the technical aspects of implementing BESS projects, equipment selection, integration of energy storage systems under Ukrainian conditions, and the future development of this rapidly growing market segment.

The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine expresses its sincere appreciation to Serhii Ruchko, moderator of the meeting, and the SOLARKIT Europe team for their insightful presentations, open exchange of practical experience, and willingness to share successful case studies of modern battery energy storage projects.

SEAU will continue organizing open meetings of its профиль committees, providing a professional platform for knowledge sharing, practical experience, and the latest technological solutions that contribute to the development of Ukraine’s battery energy storage market.
