The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine will hold an open meeting of the SEAU Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Committee together with the Association’s expert partner – JSC “Market Operator” – on the topic: “BESS: Economic Dispatch Platform and Day-Ahead Market Arbitrage”.
The event will take place on May 28, 2026, at 11:00 Kyiv time in Zoom format. The language of the event is Ukrainian.

Energy storage systems are becoming one of the key elements of the modern electricity market, especially amid the rapid development of renewable generation. JSC “Market Operator” has conducted and published a study on BESS price arbitrage. The analysis demonstrated that the most efficient market segment for BESS operation is the day-ahead market (DAM), where price arbitrage can provide the best financial results.
The most profitable model proved to be a 1 MW ESS with a capacity of 3 MWh and a payback period of approximately 3.7 years. At the same time, the further development of such projects largely depends on the stability of the regulatory environment and approaches to tariff formation in the electricity market.
Special attention will be devoted to the presentation of the Economic Dispatch Platform (EDP) for energy storage systems – specialized software developed by JSC “Market Operator” for market participants that own or operate BESS and plan to conduct arbitrage on the DAM and intraday market (IDM).
