At the same time, for businesses, it is important to understand how such solutions work not only in theory but also under real operating conditions.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A practical example of such a solution was presented by <\/span><b>Modern Energy, a member of the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which, together with <\/span><b>ADSK Innovative Technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, implemented an industrial project in Ukraine featuring an <\/span><b>Elecnova ESS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project demonstrated the possibility of integrating an industrial ESS into an existing solar power plant without replacing the installed grid-tied inverters or solar panels. The system provides backup power for critical loads, energy storage, and centralized management of energy flows through an <\/span><b>EMS (Energy Management System)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>From an operating solar power plant to a comprehensive energy system<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the time of the project\u2019s implementation, the facility already had a solar power plant equipped with:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Huawei<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> grid-tied inverters with a total capacity of 400 kW;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>LONGi Solar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> panels with a total capacity of 500 kW.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main objective was not to build new generation capacity, but to <\/span><b>expand the functionality of the existing energy infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An industrial Elecnova energy storage system was integrated into the existing solar power plant, enabling the facility to provide backup power for critical loads, store electricity, and implement various energy consumption management scenarios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the key advantages of the project was the ability to integrate the ESS into the existing solar power plant <\/span><b>without replacing the grid-tied inverters or solar panels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This made it possible to use the infrastructure already in place and avoid the additional costs associated with extensive reconstruction.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>Backup power without prolonged interruption of operations<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Elecnova system can operate both in conjunction with the external power grid and in autonomous mode.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the event of an emergency power outage, the system automatically switches to backup power and continues supplying electricity to designated loads at the facility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For critical equipment, the speed of this transition is particularly important. The implemented project uses an <\/span><b>STS (Static Transfer Switch)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which enables a rapid transition between the external grid and autonomous power supply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This helps minimize risks for server equipment, automated production lines, control systems, and other consumers that are sensitive even to short-term voltage interruptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>EMS turns a battery into an energy management tool<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An important component of the project is the <\/span><b>Energy Management System (EMS)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which determines how the facility\u2019s entire energy system operates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EMS controls:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when to charge the batteries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">when to use the stored electricity;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how to interact with the solar power plant;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how to operate with the external grid;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which loads need to be backed up;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how electricity flows should be distributed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the specific facility, the specialists developed a dedicated EMS operating logic taking into account its consumption profile, solar power plant parameters, and operation as an active consumer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, in this project, the ESS functions not simply as a backup battery, but as a <\/span><b>fully-fledged energy management tool for the facility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>A comprehensive solution in a single energy system<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Elecnova industrial platform includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LFP battery modules;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PCS;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">STS;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EMS;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BMS;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a fire suppression system;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a liquid cooling system;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">protection and monitoring systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This integrated approach eliminates the need to independently select equipment from different manufacturers and ensure its compatibility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>liquid cooling system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> plays a particularly important role, helping maintain a uniform temperature across the battery modules, efficiently dissipate heat, and reduce temperature imbalance between system components.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the battery component, Elecnova offers a stated warranty of up to <\/span><b>8,000 cycles or 10 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, depending on which condition occurs first. The system also provides for <\/span><b>100% depth of discharge (DoD)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in accordance with operating conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>The system can scale together with the facility<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another feature of the solution is the possibility of future expansion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the company, up to <\/span><b>six energy storage cabinets with a total capacity of up to 750 kW<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be connected to a single system. This allows the system\u2019s capabilities to be gradually increased in line with changes in the facility\u2019s energy needs or expansion of its production capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>Modern Energy provides comprehensive project implementation<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Implementing an industrial energy storage system involves much more than simply supplying equipment. It requires selecting the right configuration, integrating the ESS with the facility\u2019s existing solar power plant and electrical grid, developing EMS operating algorithms, commissioning the system, and providing ongoing technical support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the comprehensive approach provided by <\/span><b>Modern Energy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a SEAU member and the company that was the first in Ukraine to begin supplying Elecnova industrial energy storage systems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company participated in the implementation of this project at a facility in <\/span><b>Vinnytsia Oblast<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Modern Energy specialists provided technical configuration support, as well as service and consulting support to the partners and the customer.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><b>Practical experience for Ukrainian businesses<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The implemented project demonstrates that a modern energy storage system can become an integrated component of a facility\u2019s energy infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Combining <\/span><b>Solar PV + ESS + EMS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> makes it possible to simultaneously enhance energy resilience, provide backup power for critical loads, make more efficient use of on-site solar generation, and centrally manage energy flows.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Ukrainian businesses operating amid unstable power supply, such solutions are becoming an important component of the transition toward <\/span><b>more autonomous, flexible, and controllable energy infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Solar Energy Association of Ukraine welcomes the implementation of practical projects by its members and continues to support the development of advanced solar generation and energy storage solutions in Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ukrainian businesses are increasingly adopting energy storage systems (ESS) to enhance energy resilience, provide backup power for critical loads, and make more efficient use of their own generation.
