On September 3, at the Forum \u201cCharge and Earn: How ESS Are Changing the Rules of the Game in Ukraine\u2019s Energy Market\u201d, organized by the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU) and JSC Market Operator, SEAU partner \u2013 DTEK Renewables \u2013 announced the launch of the largest energy storage system (ESS) complex in Ukraine.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
Its official opening took place on September 11 with the participation of SEAU Chairman <\/span>Vladyslav Sokolovskyi<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n DTEK Group<\/b>, together with the U.S. company <\/span>Fluence<\/b>, a global leader in energy storage, commissioned <\/span>200 MW of capacity with a total storage volume of 400 MWh<\/b>. The new facilities, located in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, can supply electricity to <\/span>600,000 Ukrainian households for two hours<\/b>. This represents a powerful resource for stabilizing the power system, reducing blackout risks, and increasing resilience under wartime conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n Construction lasted just six months \u2013 from March to August 2025 \u2013 with a total investment of <\/span>\u20ac125 million<\/b>. Such a large-scale project became possible thanks to international partnership and efficient implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n Minister of Energy of Ukraine <\/span>Svitlana Hrynchuk<\/b> emphasized:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAmid massive attacks on Ukraine\u2019s power system, the role of energy storage systems has become as fundamental as generation itself. The National Renewable Energy Action Plan to 2030 clearly defines the need for such facilities, and today we see strategic goals turning into reality. I am grateful to DTEK Group for their proactivity and to our American partners at Fluence for advanced technologies, where each new megawatt of storage acts as a shield for the entire power system. This means greater safety for Ukrainians and fewer risks of emergency blackouts.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n DTEK CEO <\/span>Maksym Tymchenko<\/b> noted:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis is a historic step for Ukraine\u2019s power system that will determine its development for years to come.
