During the Solar Agro Conference, organized by the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine (SEAU), an important statement was made regarding the future of customs exemptions for the import of equipment for solar power plants (PV systems) and energy storage systems (ESS).<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n
Andriy Gerus<\/b>, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, emphasized that the continuation of these exemptions beyond <\/span>January 1, 2026<\/b>, is currently in question:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAll decisions regarding the granting of exemptions are extremely difficult, given the significant financial needs of the security and defense sector. At this point, I cannot promise anything \u2013 the final decision lies with the Tax Committee. Therefore, I encourage taking advantage of the current exemption while it is still in place.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Mr. Gerus also stressed that <\/span>market-based electricity pricing<\/b> is key to stimulating the development of <\/span>flexible generation and energy storage<\/b>, and announced the preparation of a <\/span>draft law to synchronize Ukrainian energy market rules with European ones (market coupling)<\/b> \u2013 a step expected to boost new investments.<\/span><\/p>\n In turn, <\/span>SEAU Chairman Vladyslav Sokolovskyi<\/b> reminded that the customs exemptions introduced in <\/span>July 2024<\/b> have already <\/span>significantly boosted equipment imports<\/b>:<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLast year, approximately 1,200 MW of solar panels were imported into Ukraine. A significant increase began precisely after the exemption was introduced.
